New Aston Martin DTM car hits the track  in Jerez

R Motorsport’s new Aston Martin Vantage DTM challenger has hit the track for the first time, with Paul di Resta shaking down the car at the Jerez circuit in Spain on Monday.

The appearance of the car comes despite the company not having a fully completed car on show at its launch event in Switzerland in February, where it used an ‘art car’ sculpture to represent its new race car.

Di Resta completed six laps, with the team now completing further work on the Vantage before the  season opener at Hockenheim in two months’ time.

R Motorsport has signed Di Resta, Jake Dennis, Daniel Juncadella and Ferdinand Habsburg for its maiden DTM season in 2019.

Team Principal Florian Kamelger claims that the car has been completed in less than 100 days. Further testing will be carried out by Di Resta, followed by Dennis on Thursday and Habsburg on Friday.
