Teamwork Motorsport considering an entry into TCR UK in 2019

Hong Kong-based outfit Teamwork Motorsport is considering an entry into the TCR UK series in 2019, citing that ‘right level of competition’ in the series as one of the reasons for a possible expansion.

The team are also considering entering into the TCR Asia or TCR China series and will ‘soon’ reveal its plans for the forthcoming season.

Teamwork recently entered a Volkswagen Golf GTi for Rob Huff into the opening round of the TCR Malaysia series, and will also run a car for Hong Kong racer Cherry Cheung in the season finale of the series this weekend.

“We’ll soon decide which championships to enter,” said Team Principal Paul Hui. “TCR Asia, China and the UK championships are all ones we’re considering, because we believe the competition will be on the right level in all those series.

“Also, as Teamwork Motorsport has a very strong network of engineers and teams in Europe, we can collaborate with local resources if we did enter the TCR UK championship and the budget will still be on target.”

Teamwork’s consideration of the UK series follows in the footsteps of Swedish team WestCoast Racing, which contested the inaugural season and scooped both the drivers’ and teams’ titles.

Teamwork was founded in 1999 under the name of China Dragon Racing and has an impressive touring car history in Asia, winning races in the Macau Touring Car Cup (eight wins) and, more recently, the 2018 TCR China title with drivers Alex Hui and Sunny Wong.
