Cyan Racing signs three-time World Champion Andy Priaulx

Lynk & Co Cyan Racing has signed three-time World Touring Car Champion Andy Priaulx for the 2019 FIA World Touring Car Cup (WTCR), with the Guernseyman joining Yvan Muller and Thed Björk.

Priaulx has signed with the Swedish team on a multi-year contract, meaning the team’s combined driver line-up has eight world titles between them.

“I’m delighted to become a Lynk & Co Cyan Racing driver,” said Priaulx. “I have no doubt that we are in a strong position to fight for the overall title already in our first year.

“We have a tough job ahead of us, the competition is as tough as it has ever been in the WTCR. But I have followed Cyan Racing’s process over the years and it was an easy decision for me to join them ahead of 2019.”

Priaulx lifted three WTCC titles in 2005, 2006 and 2007, having also claimed the FIA European Touring Car title in 2004.

He was a mainstay with BMW, moving with the manufacturer to the DTM in 2012 for two seasons, before concentrating on sportscar racing in recent years, although he also made a return to the BTCC for a single season in 2015.

“Andy is a true touring car legend and his track record speaks for itself,” said Cyan Racing CEO Christian Dahl. “His mix of experience and raw speed will be vital to us.

“We are glad to have him onboard for the 2019 WTCR season that looks to become one of the toughest ever.”

Lynk & Co Cyan Racing will campaign the new Lynk & Co 03 TCR race car, which will be making its competitive début in 2019.
