Vuković Motorsport Renaults withdrawn following technical issue

Both of the Vuković Motorsport Renault Mégane cars entered for this weekend’s TCR UK races at Donington Park have been withdrawn following the discovery of a technical issue.

A technical issue arose during a test at Hockenheim last weekend, which has resuled in the last-minute withdrawal of the cars. The exact issue has not been publicised, but it is not related to the test.

Alex Morgan had been set to race one of the cars this weekend as part of the car’s ongoing development programme, with a second entered by a driver whose identity was not revealed.

“Following a suspension test at Hockenheim last weekend, the data showed an issue,” said a statement from Vuković Motorsport. “This required some work to be done to the car, which realistically could not be completed in time for the Donington race weekend.

“Whilst it is unfortunate that we couldn’t make the race to display the pace of the car, the decision is the correct one in the circumstances.”

Alex Morgan said the withdrawal was being done in the best interests of the project.

“As a driver, I always want to be in the car racing and, whilst it would have been great to do so at Donington, we need to do what is in the best interest of the project,” said Morgan.

“My involvement with the Mégane TCR project throughout the year has been extremely rewarding as I’ve seen first-hand how quickly the car has developed, especially since Brands Hatch.

“We’ll be out racing again very soon to showcase the car’s pace which I’m naturally looking forward to.”
