Luca Engstler secured the TCR Asia title in Shanghai after claiming victory in the second race in China, leading home a Liqui Moly Team Engstler 1-2-3.
From ninth on the reverse grid, Engstler was into the lead by the third corner and never looked back to take a dominant win and double up at the Shanghai International Circuit.
His team-mates Mitchell Cheah and Diego Moran also scythed through the pack and completed the podium, with the duo initially scrapping over second before the battle was decided in Cheah’s favour.
The title is 18-year-old Engstler’s second of the season, after he earlier claimed the TCR Middle East title at the start of the year, and just two weeks after he finished as the runner-up in the TCR Germany series.
TCR China’s Alex Hui finished in fourth in his Teamwork Motorsport Volkswagen, ahead of TCR Asia’s Kelvin Wong in fifth.
A trio of TCR China racers followed, with Macanese racer Eurico De Jesus bringing his Honda home in sixth ahead of the Audi of Ryan Wong and the Honda of De Jesus’ team-mate, Kin Kong.
Viper Niza Racing’s Douglas Khoo and Hexin Racing’s Chen Zhen completed the top ten, the former having fallen to the back with a spin at the second corner on the second lap of the race.
