Josh Files praises ‘mega’ Honda as KCMG draw level in Teams’ standings

Hell Energy with KCMG’s Josh Files has praised the ‘mega’ performance of his Honda Civic Type R FK7 after the outfit secured a potentially vital front row lockout at Barcelona in TCR Europe qualifying.

Though Files was bested for pole position by a mere 0.041 seconds after a late flyer from Attila Tassi, the result means KCMG draw level atop the Teams’ standings with Target Competition heading into the season-concluding double header.

“The car was mega, we made some small adjustments even in the session and it’s paid off,” explained Files to TouringCars.net

“We’ve got there on one-lap performance and it was great to have Attila [Tassi] there as well. He’s been super fast all weekend so putting him behind me for that second tyre run was obviously the right call.

“We’ve got both cars on the front row and that’s a mega job from everybody at KCMG, it’s just a shame I couldn’t put my sectors together because I saw the [ideal] time and it’s a 1:53.6! But there we are!”

Looking ahead to the opening contest at 17:30 CEST, Files expects a sensible approach to the race from himself and Tassi, with a focus on banking points.

“We’ll go and have a quick debrief now and see what the plan is, but we have to be clever. The good thing is me and Attila have a great rapport and have worked well together all year, and so that’s going to continue.”
