Halfords Yuasa Racing’s Dan Cammish went quickest in the second British Touring Car Championship practice session, ahead of Ash Sutton who crashed late in the session, causing a stoppage.
Cammish set the pace in the first quarter in the 40-minute session, with a time of 1:31.000s to edge out Sutton’s early benchmark.
Eurotech Racing’s Jack Goff jumped to third late in the session, before Sutton had a high-speed off at Paddock Hill Bend with four minutes remaining, reportedly due to a braking issue.
Next was BMW Pirtek Racing’s Andrew Jordan who edged out Aiden Moffat’s Mercedes, who was another late improver.
Brett Smith made it two Eurotech Hondas in the top six, ahead of Matt Neal in seventh, with Matt Simpson and Chris Smiley rounding out the quintet of Honda Civics in eighth and ninth respectively.
Speedworks Motosport’s Tom Ingram completed the top ten – the fastest of the championship challengers – edging out standings leader Colin Turkington in 11th.
Tom Chilton, who sits third in the championship, managed 13th just ahead of Motorbase stable-mate Sam Tordoff.
BTC Norlin Racing’s Dan Lloyd ended up 19th after his Honda Civic Type R underwent an engine change following first practice, and completed 12 laps with the new engine.
Rory Butcher was forced to crawl back to the pits in his MG6 after slowing on the exit of Paddock Hill Bend in the first half of the session, but the issue was soon resolved and the Scotsman rejoined the session.
Qualifying for the season finale of the British Touring Car Championship gets underway at 15:20 BST (16:20 CEST).
