Racing One’s Niels Langeveld claimed his first pole position of the season in qualifying for the ADAC TCR Germany series at Zandvoort, putting his Audi on pole ahead of the RS3 of LMS Racing’s Antti Buri.
Langeveld, who is currently second in the drivers’ standings, used his local knowledge to perfect effect in qualifying, beating Buri to the top time by two tenths of a second after being at the top of the timesheets throughout Q2 and having earlier headed up the Q1 times.
“First place – that’s what I imagined,” admitted Langeveld. “Now, of course, we want to get the best result from the best grid position.”
Finn Buri therefore had to settle for second in an all-Audi front row of the grid for race one, marking his third front-row start of the season.
Championship leader Harald Proczyk put his HP Racing Opel in third, three tenths from his chief rival, ahead of the leading Honda of Mike Halder in fourth.
Prosport Performance’s Max Hesse underlined the strength of the Audi’s at the Dune side circuit by qualifying in fifth, ahead of the leading Hyundai of Team Engstler’s Theo Coicaud in sixth.
TOPCAR Sport’s Loris Prattes scored a best-ever qualifying result of seventh in his CUPRA, ahead of Yaco Racing’s Simon Reicher in eighth.
Completing the top ten and securing the reversed-grid front row for race two were the second HP Racing Opel of Luke Wankmüller and Hyundai Team Engstler’s Luca Engstler, the latter taking his first reverse-grid pole position in the series.
Michelle Halder missed out on the reversed grid and put her CUPRA in 11th, ahead of the leading Volkswagen Golf of Benjamin Leuchter in 12th.
Race one gets underway at 16:50 CEST (15:50 BST).
