Robert Gilmour may not compete in Castle Combe races due to ECU problem

DPE Motorsport’s Robert Gilmour says it is unlikely that he will contest the pair of TCR UK races at Castle Combe today [15 July] after an ongoing ECU problem has hampered his running since warm-up yesterday.

TouringCars.Net understands that Gilmour received a new ECU after he stopped out on track in warm-up yesterday, but his Alfa Romeo Giulietta is still struggling to select gears.

The team is currently attempting to programme the new ECU, but it is unlikely Gilmour will contest the races later today.

After his issue in warm-up yesterday, he told TouringCars.Net: “I went to put the power on in the first chicane, and the power jumped out.

“So I switched it off, reset it and then the power switched off again. So I jumped out, and it wasn’t so bad – the cable was just loose.

“So I threw it back on and then got stuck in gear. I think we’ve just got an ECU problem. We’re trying to re-programme it.”

Gilmour is praying he can get out for race one at 12:55 BST, but admitted his weekend has been “awful” after a splitter issue in testing on Friday and then the ongoing ECU troubles.
