Robert Gilmour hoping for more running after ECU problem in warm-up

DPE Motorsport’s Robert Gilmour says he “could really do with some running” after an ECU issue stopped his warm-up session prematurely this morning.

On Gilmour’s out-lap his Alfa Romeo lost power and came to a stop, bringing out the red flag despite attempts to get it going again.

He told TouringCars.Net it was an issue with the ECU which his team is currently working on to try to get him out for practice.

“I went to put the power on in the first chicane, and the power jumped out,” said Gilmour. “So I switched it off, reset it and then the power switched off again. So I jumped out, and it wasn’t so bad – the cable was just loose.

“So I threw it back on and then got stuck in gear. I think we’ve just got an ECU problem. If we get that sorted we’ll be alright. We’re trying to re-programme it.”

Gilmour is currently unsure as to whether this Alfa Romeo Giulietta will be ready to take part in the half-hour practice session which starts at 12:20, and is desperate for some running this weekend after a splitter issue yesterday hampered his track time in the pre-event test.

“We had a problem with the splitter yesterday. We could just do with some running as well that’s the biggest problem for me now – I could really do with some running. We’ll get there.”
