Finlay Crocker to miss race two at Castle Combe due to damage

Verizon Connect Racing’s Finlay Crocker will miss TCR UK’s reverse-grid contest at Castle Combe after opening lap contact ended his first race.

Crocker got off to a great start before chaos ensued at Quarry Corner, with three cars abreast battling for third position.

His Honda Civic Type R was hit in the rear by Jessica Bäckman who locked up, meaning he was speared onto the grass and then made contact with Stewart Lines’ CUPRA.

The damage to the shell of his Honda was too extensive to contest the second race, Finlay told TouringCars.Net a change of shell may be required.

After the race, Finlay was clearly frustrated with the driving standards in the championship.

“Unfortunately somebody decided that again they would use the car in front as a brake to slow down at the corner and play on the ‘oh it’s the first lap melee/racing incident’ bollocks which is failing now to cut it with me I’m afraid,” said Finlay.

“We’re all guilty of driving badly you could say from time to time, but when it happens three or four rounds on the trot with the same person it starts to get a little bit tedious.

“It’s about time that something was done about it. Unfortunately I’m now in a situation where I’ve got a car that more probably than possibly going to need a re-shell, so I’m not best pleased and I won’t be out in the second race.”
