Team BMR locked out the front row in qualifying for tomorrow’s British Touring Car Championship triple-header at Croft, with reigning Champion Ash Sutton on pole position.
Team-mate Jason Plato will line up alongside, 0.156 seconds adrift, in a remarkable turn of fortunes for the Buntingford-based outfit.
Andrew Jordan re-inforced the WSR-run BMW’s strong track record at the 2.1 mile Yorkshire circuit in third, a further 0.017s off Plato.
Sam Tordoff will look to bounce back from a frustrating Oulton Park outing from fourth in the Motorbase Ford Focus RS, whilst Tom Ingram in fifth is the highest placed of the current crop of championship contenders.
The other two works BMWs of Colin Turkington and Rob Collard came next, despite a spin for the latter at the Complex, whilst the privateer 1-series of Stephen Jelley put in a notably strong showing for eighth.
Josh Cook’s Vauxhall Astra was ninth ahead of Rob Austin’s Alfa Romeo in a top ten split by just seven tenths of a second.
Eleventh is Dan Lloyd’s best showing since making his BTCC return, with the BTC Norlin racer no longer forced to carry around 45 kilograms of success ballast for entering the championship late.
Team Dynamics struggled, with Matt Neal 15th and Dan Cammish down in 19th, whilst the Ciceley Mercedes trio also had a difficult day at the office, with Tom Oliphant quickest in 17th ahead of Morgan (21st) and Moffat (23rd).
After qualifying, Rob Austin, Aiden Moffat, Josh Price and Matt Simpson had lap times disallowed for exceeding track limits.
The opening race of the weekend gets underway at 12:05 BST tomorrow [24th June].
