Stefano Comini returns to TCR Benelux and Europe in Honda Civic

Stefano Comini will return to the TCR Benelux and TCR Europe series this weekend, racing a new Honda Civic for AUTODIS Racing with THX, after parting company with the Race Republic team who he raced a Subaru for in the opening round.

Comini was a late entry for the first event of the season in Le Castellet in France when he raced a Top Run Motorsport-built Subaru WRX STi.

But the Swiss racer then missed the second event in Zandvoort whilst he worked on attaining a more competitive package for the remainder of the year.

Comini is formally entered into TCR Benelux, which is sharing its race weekends with the TCR Europe series in 2018.

“Via Cédric Hennau, the TCR Benelux promoter, we were contacted by Marc Graas who watches over the future of AUTODIS, one of the top concessionaires in the Grand Duchy”, said a spokesperson at THX Racing.

“Autodis had ordered the latest Honda Civic TCR and wanted to entrust it to a top driver supported by a well-oiled team.

“The fact that they called upon us represents a cause for satisfaction and takes on a rather specific accent when we know that Stefano Comini will be manning our Honda Civic!

“His record of achievements are worth commenting on: the Swiss champion is among the ‘stalwarts’ of the discipline and we can expect to see him up front as from the very first confrontation!”

Autodis’ Marc Graas believes that Comini will be able to help the team, including his younger team-mates Loris Cencetti and Cedric Piro.

“In a race as in business, I always look to bring together the top from each field in order to obtain the most resounding results,” said Graas. “I am convinced that the collaboration with THX Racing and Stefano Comini will rapidly bring us full satisfaction.

“In addition, their experience will definitely prove to be valuable to help the two young AUTODIS Racing drivers entered in TCR Europe, Loris Cencetti and Cedric Piro.”

Comini will test the car in Italy and at Zolder before tackling the next round of the TCR Benelux and Europe series in anger at Spa-Francorchamps this weekend.
