Racing One’s Niels Langeveld took pole position at the Red Bull Ring for the opening race of the TCR Germany weekend in his Audi RS 3 LMS.
The Dutch racer edged out fellow Audi driver Antti Buri, who set the pace in the first qualifying session, before Langeveld improved his time to set the pace two tenths clear of the LMS Racing driver.
Making it a trio of Audis at the top was rookie Max Hesse, 0.042s ahead of Mike Halder’s Honda which scored pole last time out at Most.
Local man Harald Proczyk completed the top five, ahead of Benjamin Leuchter’s Volkswagen and fellow Opel driver Luke Wankmüller.
Just 0.005s adrift was Lukas Niedertscheider in his Peugeot, ahead of the Liqui Moly Volkswagen of Luca Engstler.
Propping up the top ten, and therefore taking pole for the reverse-grid race two of the weekend was PROsport Performance’s Sandro Kaibach.
The opening race of the weekend gets underway tomorrow at 11:55 CEST (10:55 BST.)
