TCR Balance of Performance change sees further Hyundai restrictions

A further adjustment to the TCR Balance of Performance [BoP] for this weekend’s races will see the Hyundai restricted to 97.5% of its engine power and almost all cars getting a weight break.

The Hyundai i30 N TCR has continued to dominate the start of the season, winning two out of the three FIA World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) races on the Nürburgring Nordschleife to takes its win total to five out of the first nine races.

The car was also victorious in both of the TCR Europe season-opening races held at Circuit Paul Ricard in France earlier in the month.

As a result, the TCR technical department has issued a further adjustment of the Balance of Performance.

The Hyundai will now have to run with engine power at 97.5%, whilst its ride height increases from 80 mm to 100 mm.

Other cars have been handed a further weight break. The Peugeot 308 Racing Cup has been permitted a further 30 kg reduction, and the Peugeot 308 TCR, Audi RS3 LMS (both SEQ and DSG gearboxes) and Alfa Romeo Giulietta have been given a further 20 kg reduction.

Cars getting a further 10 kg reduction are the CUPRA TCR (both SEQ and DSG gearbox) and the Volkswagen Golf GTi (both SEQ and DSG gearbox).

The minimum racing weights for the Hyundai Hyundai (1325 kg), Opel Astra (1315 kg) and Honda Civic (1305 kg) remain unchanged.
