Esteban Guerrieri keeps Honda on top of WTCR times at Zandvoort

Esteban Guerrieri kept Honda on top of the times in second practice for the FIA World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) at Zandvoort, as Münnich Motorsport once again occupied the top two places with Yann Ehrlacher in second.

Guerrieri lapped the Dutch circuit around six tenths faster than Ehrlacher had in the morning’s earlier session, edging out his team-mate by a slither over a tenth of a second to continue to improve to push the lap record for a TCR car around the circuit.

The Argentine had hit the top of the times at just over the half-way mark, with his lap holding the top spot thereafter.

Ehrlacher, was slower than his team-mate throughout the entire session, whilst Aurélien Comte was a surprise third fastest in his Peugeot 308.

Leopard Lukoil’s Jean-Karl Vernay was the leading Audi driver in fourth, having topped the times in the early part of the session, ahead of Comtoyou Racing duo Frédéric Vervisch and Nathanaël Berthon in fifth and sixth respectively.

Rob Huff, who was also in the top ten earlier in FP1, was seventh fastest in his Volkswagen Golf, ahead of Boutsen Ginion Racing’s Benjamin Lessennes in eighth, who cracked the top ten for the first time in the weekend, just over half a second off the pace.

Comtoyou Racing’s Aurélien Panis and Leopard Lukoil’s Gordon Shedden completed the top ten in their Audi RS3s respectively, making it five cars in the top ten for the Ingolstadt marque.

The next WTCR track action is qualifying for race one on Sunday at 08:30 CEST (07:30 BST).
