Even with the 2018 ADAC TCR Germany season set to start on the 13th of April at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, LIQUI MOLY Team Engstler’s Kai Jordan will be using a temporary replacement for the VW Golf TCR he used at the TCR Middle East finale in Bahrain a few weeks ago.
Jordan will have an identical Golf for the first weekend of the current campaign, as the car that he raced in the Bahrain finale has not yet returned to the Team Engstler premises for preparations ahead of this weekend.
This was due to a accident involving the container ship carrying Jordan’s VW colliding with another freighter, with 21 containers ending up in the water.
But further delays have occurred, as all equipment that Team Engstler will not be able to leave on the freighter that is currently static in Pakistan’s Karachi port, until the accident has been fully investigated.
Help has come in the form of a KUG Motorsport replacement as a temporary measure, and the vehicle has already been at the Engstler base in Wiggensbach.
“The story surrounding Jordan’s racing car almost sounds like a thriller,” admitted LIQUI MOLY Team Engstler’s Sporting Director, Kurt Treml.
“Here, the containers have been transhipped and will then come to Europe with the next scheduled container ship, but Kai Jordan’s VW Golf would not have been in Europe in time for the opening race.”
