Jack Goff ‘pretty confident’ after strong opening weekend

Eurotech Racing’s Jack Goff says he is confident ahead of the second meeting of 2018 at Donington Park after he left Brands Hatch second in the British Touring Car Championship standings.

The race one winner was pleased to start the season in the best possible manner, but told TouringCars.Net he was a little disappointed with the following two contests.

“It’s a shame about race two when we were leading on wets,” said Goff. “Then everyone on slicks came past and that was really such a shame because we were in control of the race.

“The car felt pretty good and I think if we’d have had a bit of a rain shower or the safety car didn’t come out then we’d have been OK.

“But it is what it is, it’s just one of those things.”

He dropped to tenth in the second round, before claiming eighth in the final encounter.

“That was a bit of a destruction derby, and it started to rain so it was just about keeping it on the black stuff really.”

Goff is second in the standings, three points adrift of race three winner Tom Ingram in the Speedworks Motorsport Toyota Avensis.

He feels confident of carrying forward the momentum from Brands Hatch to Donington Park in three weeks.

“The car goes pretty well around Donington and we’ve done some ballast runs there anyway so we know what to expect,” said Goff.

“We’re going in with 66 kilos – a fair amount of weight – but we’re pretty confident.

“The first weekend’s about getting some solid points really. We didn’t come away from here 60 points off the lead, we’re second – three points off. We’re not a million miles away so we can work from there.”
