WTCR to host second Chinese event in 2018 at Wuhan

Wuhan will host a second Chinese round of the new-for-2018 FIA World Touring Car Cup in as many weeks, with the championship organisers confirming a fourth street circuit at the official season launch this evening (28 March).

A street race is planned in the Chinese city, as was the case when the Chinese Touring Car Championship visited in 2017, with Ningbo International Speedpark the venue for the other, having hosted its first WTCC event last Autumn.

The race is understood to be scheduled for October 7th, with TCR China and CTCC both tipped to feature on the support race billing.

Wuhan is one of the automotive centres of China, with a significant proportion of the city’s 19 million population directly or indirectly employed in the sector.

The event is understood to be receiving support from the central Chinese government, and is likely to take place on a different, longer variant to that used in the inaugural CTCC running in 2017.
