Ollie Taylor expecting ‘unpredictable’ inaugural TCR UK qualifying

Pyro Motorsport’s Ollie Taylor believes the inaugural TCR UK Series qualifying session is set to be an unpredictable affair.

The former Caterham racer has lapped competitively during practice ahead of the weekend, setting the pace around the 1.6 mile National circuit in wet conditions yesterday [30th March].

Weather conditions have been hugely changeable in Northamptonshire, with the forecast for qualifying still up in the air.

“We’re not sure what’s going to happen now for qualifying, in terms of the weather and the result,” said Taylor to TouringCars.net.

“We’ll just have to take it as it comes, there are quite a few unknowns.

“The ideal scenario would be that if it rains, it rains properly and it then stays wet, and if it’s dry then we want it properly dry. It’ll certainly make it interesting, we’re prepared for whatever happens.”

The team is also receiving assistance this weekend from multiple TCR champion Josh Files, who is also preparing for a full assault on the expanded TCR Europe Series.

Taylor paid tribute to the 2013 Renault UK Clio Cup champion for his role in helping him adapt to the Honda Civic TCR in a short timescale.

“Josh and I work great together, it’s been helpful to have him around. It’s been such a big learning curve for me with front-wheel drive, which is really the opposite to what I’ve done before, and he’s been a big part of that.”

Qualifying is set to get underway at 16:25.
