Oliver Taylor pleased with opportunity to learn Yokohama tyres

Pyro Motorsport’s Oliver Taylor believes the team have made strong progress after using today’s TCR UK Series test sessions ahead of the inaugural event at Silverstone to study the championships Yokohama tyres.

Taylor, who topped the time sheets around the 1.6 mile National circuit behind the wheel of the Honda Civic amid inclement weather conditions in the third and final session of the day, continued his form from the series’ previous test at the same venue.

The use of Yokohama tyres is relatively new to TCR regulated championships, with TCR Italy making the switch in 2017 ahead of the UK’s series.

“Every time we go out in the car we learn, which is really good,” Taylor told TouringCars.net

“It’s always nice to feel ‘on the pace’, as we had quite ranging conditions today.

“I don’t think there’s too much to be looked into in regards to the times today, because a lot of people have been on different tyres all day.

“It was good to use the Yokohoma tyres and do some homework on how they react; it’s good to see pace from the other people as well and I’m really looking forward to the weekend.”

Both of the championships season-opening races are scheduled for Sunday afternoon [1st April].
