Giovanardi, Morbidelli and Gleason test TCR Alfa Romeo

Mulsanne Racing have brought in touring car experts Fabrizio Giovanardi, Gianni Morbidelli and relative newcomer Kevin Gleason to test their Romeo Ferraris-built Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR at Monza.

The team ran as GE-Force in the 2017 TCR International Series with Davit Kajaia and Dušan Borković at the wheel. With Kajaia not returning to international TCR racing in 2018, and Borković yet to announce his plans, the team have brought in experienced hands to help them with their pre-season programme.

Giovanardi is an eight-time champion in touring car racing across the European (ETCC), British (BTCC), Italian and Spanish championships. The 51-year-old first got a taste of TCR machinery in late 2017 in the Italian championship.

Morbidelli has previously partnered with Gleason in the TCR International Series and is one of the most experienced TCR racers at the current time.

“The start of the season is around the corner, and we are ready,” explained Romeo Ferraris Operations Manager Michela Cerruti. “The Monza test will be useful to verify a number of details before the cars are sent to the WTCR test at Barcelona.

“We rely a lot on the experience of Fabrizio, Gianni and Kevin to have a last feedback on some set-up developments.”

Romeo Ferraris already announced in January that two of their Giuliettas will be on the grid through its satellite team for the new FIA World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) in 2018.
