Aiden Moffat: More to come from TCR UK Alfa Romeo

Laser Tools Racing’s Aiden Moffat believes there is more performance to be uncovered in his Alfa Romeo Guilietta after testing in inclement conditions at Silverstone ahead of the TCR UK Series opener.

The British Touring Car Championship ace signed a late deal to contest a dual campaign in the UK’s newest touring car series, and topped the second session amid drying conditions with a 59.187 around the 1.6 mile National circuit.

The late nature of the deal means he arrived at Silverstone on Thursday evening without turning a wheel in anger behind the wheel of his new charger.

Team-mate and former BTCC driver Derek Palmer Jnr also demonstrated the car’s potential, with both set to be in the mix for pole position at the ‘Home of British Motorsport’ tomorrow afternoon.

“It got drier towards the end of session two so we decided to get a feel for the car – it’s handling fine and I’m feeling confident,” said Moffat.

“We’ve just used today to learn about the car, we’ll sit down tonight with some data and then build from that tomorrow.

“We’re up there on the timesheets and we haven’t really given it maximum attack and there’s a lot more in the bag, which is a nice position to be in.”

The other two test sessions were headed by Finlay Crocker (Honda Civic Type R FK8) and his Pyro Motorsport team-mate Oliver Taylor (Honda Civic TCR).
