A strong 26-car entry list has been unveiled for the start of the 2018 ADAC TCR Germany series season, with cars from seven different manufacturers represented and a guaranteed new champion in store.
The announcement means that the start of the new season in Germany will feature a reduced entry compared to the start of 2017, when over 40cars took to the track for the season opener at Oschersleben.
Nevertheless, ADAC Sports President Hermann Tomczyk believes that the series has now established itself firmly as a proving ground for new touring car racers.
“The ADAC TCR Germany is firmly established in the German motorsport landscape in its third season and is an ideal platform for young up-and-coming talents as well as for experienced touring car pilots,” said Tomczyk.
“We can look forward to touring car racing again this year with new manufacturers and exciting newcomers: as it should be.”
The Volkswagen Golf GTi has surpassed the Audi RS3 to become the most popular model on the grid, with eight cars, six of which are being run by Engstler Motorsport. Audi will have to settle for a presence of five RS3s in the coming season.
A new champion will also be guaranteed in 2018 – with two-time champion Josh Files having left to take on a season in the TCR Europe series.
