HP Racing switch to Opel for two-car TCR Germany campaign

Austrian team HP Racing will continue to race in the ADAC TCR Germany series in 2018, switching to Opel to run two cars for Harald Proczyk and Luke Wankmüller.

Proczyk raced a SEAT León TCR for much of the 2017 season before switching to Opel machinery for the TCR Germany season finale at the Hockenheimring.

The switch brought immediate success for the 42-year-old Austrian, who claimed pole position and victory in the first race of the weekend.

Proczyk was classified fourth overall in the 2017 standings, and for 2018 he will campaign a Kissling Motorsport-built Astra TCR for the entire season.

He will be joined by 16-year-old youngster Wankmüller in the two-car team, with the German having only made his car racing début last year in the Renault Clio Cup Central Europe.

“I’m really looking forward to my first races in TCR Germany,” said Wankmüller. “I worked a lot together with my team to prepare myself for my début. My goal is to fight for the rookie rating.”

Proczyk is looking forward to working with his inexperienced team-mate in the forthcoming season.

“I have been accompanying Luke for a long time and I am enthusiastic about his attitude and comprehension,” added the team boss. “He puts his heart and soul into it and works on all the details, which is the key to success in the end.

“As the second driver in the team, I will also help Luke and help him adapt to the new environment.”
