Craft-Bamboo Racing confirms switch to TCR Europe in 2018

Craft-Bamboo Racing has confirmed that it will take part in TCR Europe in 2018, with a two-car team running cars by an as-yet unspecified manufacturer.

The Anglo-Hong Kong team were one of the first to commit to TCR early in 2015, when they ran SEAT León Cup Racers. The team went on to become a key supporter of the TCR International Series during its run from 2015 to 2017.

Having run SEAT cars with support from SEAT Sport for the past three seasons, the team remain tight-lipped about the brand they will work with in 2018, following frustrations during 2017 with the Spanish marque.

No drivers have yet been announced for the team’s entry into the seven-event TCR Europe series.

“We are happy to confirm our move to TCR Europe for the 2018 season,” explained Team Director Darryl O’Young. “The calendar is fantastic, and we expect a strong entry in the series with competitive drivers and teams.

“We have chosen to put more focus on Europe in 2018, with the possibility to also enter some spot races in other TCR series races across Europe.

“We have strong drivers currently in discussion, and the team is highly motivated with Andrew Chisholm continuing as the project manager for our TCR programs, so our intention is clear to come out and fight for the championship title in May.”

A statement from the team also confirmed that Craft-Bamboo will re-evaluate an entry to WTCR in 2019 but ruled out participating in the series in its opening season since January.
