HMS Racing set to launch Alfa Romeo Guilietta at ASI

HMS Racing will unveil their 2018 British Touring Car Championship challenger at the annual Autosport International Show at the NEC in Birmingham on Thursday at 12:30.

The Alfa-Romeo brand returns to the UK’s headline tin-top series with the race-winning outfit this season in the hands of experienced campaigner Rob Austin.

Celebrating 60 years of the BTCC at the prestigious season curtain-raiser, the Dunlop stand will also feature a selection of cars from the championship’s history.

Situated in Hall 6 [stand 6740], the Guilietta is set to attract attention from tens of thousands of avid motorsport fans across the four day show, which runs from 11th-14th January, with the first two days designated for trade individuals and media.

“We can’t wait for Thursday – the excitement level is off the scale!” commented HMS Racing Team Principal, Simon Belcher.

“Everyone has been working flat out since the announcement we’d be bringing Alfa Romeo marque back to the BTCC, now we’re just days away from unveiling what I think everyone will agree is a truly stunning car.

“It’s amazing that the famous badge is going to be back in the BTCC and I’m very proud of all the hard work which has gone into designing and constructing our first BTCC car from scratch.”

Austin shares Belcher’s positive appraisal of the team’s work, and is looking forward to inking success into the history books with the famous Italian brand.

“I’m really excited to unveil the new car on Thursday, I’m aware that I am baised but I think it’s an absolutely stunning car and with a badge that represents the passion and excitement for motorsport that is so prevalent in our team.

“I can’t think of any entirely new BTCC car in recent times that has been ready to go so early in the year, indeed there are many cars which aren’t new that still aren’t ready. So we really are ahead of the game, and that’s thanks to the support of our fantastic sponsors, and the hard work of HMS Racing and our suppliers.”
