YACO Racing have decided to extend their racing activitiess for the 2018 racing season, having now confirmed Simon Reicher as their first driver for the forthcoming ADAC TCR Germany series.

The Austrian competed this season with Certainty.nl Racing, taking the runner-up spot in the rookie standings behind Liqui Moly Team Engstler’s Luca Engstler, piloting an Audi RS3 LMS.

YACO Racing have just competed their seventh racing season in the ADAC GT Masters, with team principal Uwe Geipel looking to promote young talents such as the 17-year-old.

“In the past, we have often looked after young motor racing talents in motor sport with a time-limited interruption,” admitted Geipel, who sees a lot of potential in Reicher, who has also completed his first test with the Plauen-based outfit.

“He has already taken part in his last season with an Audi RS3. This combination makes him one of our preferred candidates.”

“I am very impressed with how well we worked together in the first test,” stated Reicher, who finished 27th in the overall standings.

“I am absolutely sure that I will learn a lot from Uwe Geipel in the coming season. After all, I’m still at the very beginning of my motorsport career.

Geipel also realizes the fact that the team will have to be realistic in their approach to adjusting to working with front-wheel drive machinery, having decided to expand their racing endeavours.

“We already have a lot of experience with front wheel drive vehicles in our company history, winning the overall driver title in the 2005 Yaris Cup, going to Super 2000 the year after. Plus we won that title in 2008,” said Geipel, who is also open to approaches for more TCR cars to join their squad.

“Our planning for the 2018 season is not yet complete. If other TCR pilots are looking for an experienced team, we will gladly accept their requests.”
