In the run up to qualifying for the first Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters qualifying session of the weekend at the Red Bull Ring, Team Rosberg’ s Jamie Green secured back-to-back fastest times in the second practice session this morning.
The Briton set the best time of a 1:22.137 around the Austrian circuit, leading an Audi Sport top four, who were separated by just 0.184 seconds after the 30-minute session.
Championship contender René Rast was 0.041 seconds off Green, with points leader Mattias Ekström third, marginally in front of 2013 champion Mike Rockenfeller, who got his first running of the weekend, following the gearbox issues his RS5 DTM had suffered in first practice.
Edoardo Mortara was the fastest of the Mercedes-AMG Motorsport contingent in fifth, ahead of Stuttgart team mates Lucas Auer and Gary Paffett.
All six Audi Sport drivers showed the true pace of the RS5, having all secured top ten times, as Loïc Duval and Nico Müller were eighth and ninth respectively, with Paul Di Resta completing the top ten.
Defending champion Marco Wittmann was the best of the BMW drivers down in 11th place, just 0.097 seconds off Di Resta at the end of the session, accompanied by Augusto Farfus in 12th.
It was another difficult session for the Munich manufacturer, with Tom Blomqvist, Timo Glock, Maxime Martin and Bruno Spengler occupying 15th to last place, behind the Mercedes duo of Maro Engel and Robert Wickens in 13th and 14th.
Qualifying for the first race of the weekend at the Red Bull Ring gets underway at 1140 local time (1040 BST), lasting for 20 minutes.
