Six drivers lost their best lap times in qualifying for the British Touring Car Championship at Oilton Park for yellow flag infringements.
After a red-flag stoppage with less than five minutes to go, the qualifying session resumed with a five-minute sprint for drivers to improve their starting positions for Sunday’s first race.
However Motorbase Performance’s Martin Depper spun into the barriers late in the session, prompting the yellow flags to fly in the first sector of the lap with just two minutes remaining.
A number of drivers went on to improve their times, which were later cancelled due to them having gone faster under the yellow flags at Cascades.
Power Maxed Racing’s Senna Proctor had originally put his Vauxhall Astra in tenth with a late lap, but he drops to 16th after losing his best time.
Team-mate Tom Chilton also fell foul of the same issue, although the WTCC driver had only been 27th with his best lap, and he drops to 30th as a result.
MG’s Daniel Lloyd had his time deleted but remains 26th, whilst Ciceley Motorsport’s Adam Morgan drops from 16th to 20th.
Motorbase’s Luke Davenport was originally 22nd but drops to 24th, whilst the second works’ MG of Árón Taylor-Smith drops from 19th to 25th with the loss of his best time.
There were also in-session best times deleted for exceeding track limits for Ash Sutton and Dave Newsham, who ended up in sixth and 28th respectively.
