Regular TCR Italy competitor Daniele Cappellari will join the grid for the TCR International Series at Monza this weekend, as he enters his SEAT León TCR.
Cappellari finished fifth overall in the 2016 TCR Italy series, having finished on the podium three times and achieved a strong run of consistency with 12 top six finishes out of 14 races.
Family-run team CRC Team Bassano are a small outfit, with Cappellari acting as the driver, mechanic, engineer and, as he confesses, ‘even the griller for the barbecue’.
“I feel very excited and I’m sure I will remember the Monza weekend for the rest of my life,” said an enthusiastic Cappellari. “I love Touring Car racing and when I was a boy I never missed a Super Touring race on TV, but I couldn’t even dream of taking part in an International event at Monza!
“Whatever will be, I will be happy. But I also hope to show off and find some support for the future. It will be a dream come true and I dare to hope that it will not be a one-off…”
Cappellari also brings back the spirit of times gone by, as he sleeps in the paddock in the family’s camper van.
