Josh Price gets fourth Subaru BMR drive

Former Renault Clio Cup racer Josh Price has been announced as the fourth Team BMR Subaru driver for the 2017 British Touring Car Championship, competing under the BMR Racing Academy banner.

Price, who finished sixth overall in the 2016 Renault Clio Cup, joins Jason Plato, Ash Sutton and James Cole in the factory-backed Subaru team, although he will run under a separate team moniker.

Plato, Cole and Sutton will compete under the banner of Adrian Flux Subaru Racing.

The announcement has been possible thanks to an additional sponsor coming on board at the last minute.

“It was a bit of a shock to be here today,” said Price. “I didn’t find out until yesterday so I’m thrilled to be here.

“I haven’t driven the car yet at all – I’ve not even sat in it. Hopefully we can get some days under our belt next week. I’ve got a great car and some really good team-mates here so I hope to learn as much from them as I can.”

“I’m extremely overwhelmed by the support of BMR and Subaru to get me on the BTCC grid this season at such short notice. I’m looking forward to the challenge that’s ahead, as well as working with a team with such a great pedigree.”

Team Principal Warren Scott welcomed Price to his team, with Scott himself set to watch from the sidelines this year as he steps out of the BTCC driving seat.

“I am thrilled to welcome Josh into the BMR Racing Academy BTCC team,” said Scott. “I very much look forward to watching him progress within the championship throughout what promises to be an unforgettable year.”
