Jack Goff hails ‘extremely beneficial’ Eurotech testing in Spain

Jack Goff hailed an ‘extremely beneficial’ week of testing for Eurotech Racing at Castelloli Circuit in Spain in the build up to this years British Touring Car Championship.

Goff, who made the journey alongside team-mate Jeff Smith and fellow BTCC outfits West Surrey Racing, Team Dynamics and BTC Norlin Racing, completed both qualifying and race simulations alongside the teams continued development programme on the Honda Civic Type R.

The trip allows teams to better simulate the track and ambient temperatures of the UK during Spring and Summer. Testing now resumes on domestic soil before the official Season Launch, scheduled to take place at Donington Park on March 16th.

Speaking exclusively to TouringCars.net, the BRDC Superstar hailed the team’s progress and believes the developments are easily transferable within car setup at each of the championships venues this year.

“Testing in Spain has been extremely beneficial, we had perfect weather pretty much all 5 days, which allowed us to carry out significant development work on the Type R,” commented Goff.

“We made some pretty big steps forward with some stuff and also worked on things that could help us later in the year.

“We were at a pretty amazing circuit. It had a great combination of high speed and low speed corners. We really got to try things on the car that can help us at pretty much any circuit in the UK.”

The race winner also admitted getting a handle on the newer compound of Dunlop SportMaxx rubber was high on a list of priorities over the course of the test.

“I have been working on various programmes. Ranging from new tyre qualifying runs, then full race runs on the soft, medium and hard tyres. Plus trying some new development parts that the guys at Eurotech Racing have been working hard on over the winter. They have done a fantastic job.

“We have just completed 5 sunny days of testing in approximately 20 degree temperatures, so let’s hope it doesn’t rain or snow come Brands Hatch in a few weeks.”

He also paid tribute to Eurotech Racing for helping to integrate him quickly and effectively into the fold after making the switch from West Surrey Racing earlier this year.

“It’s been even better than I could of imagined, I have slotted straight into the team and already feel very comfortable with all the Eurotech lads and ladies, everyone at the team has worked so hard, not only in Spain, but also pre season over the winter period, however at the same time I have already realised we are going to have some good fun whilst concentrating on the bigger picture of tasting some champagne up on the podium.”
