Colin Turkington confident after return to WSR ‘family’

Colin Turkington admitted his return to West Surrey Racing felt like coming back to ‘family’ after he launched Team BMW’s newly-liveried and updated BMW 125i M Sport in London yesterday.

Turkington, who was present at Park Lane with his new team-mates Andrew Jordan and Rob Collard, has already had an opportunity to shake the car down briefly at Brands Hatch.

The short test followed his return from Team BMR after departing WSR shortly after winning his second drivers championship in 2014 due to financial reasons.

The team will head out to Spain alongside a host of other BTCC outfits including rivals Team Dynamics for a week-long test on February 27th.

“I am delighted to be back!” commented Turkington.

“This combination of West Surrey Racing and Team BMW is a dream for any driver and to carry the iconic BMW colours is a real honour in the BTCC. My very first season in the BTCC was with Dick Bennetts and this has been my training ground, I think it may be my tenth season with the team.

“I shook the car down briefly last week at Brands Hatch and when I saw the team truck as I drove in I see family. It is completely different going to any other race team. Having that familiarity and confidence with the team allows you to strive for success even more.”
