Josh Files confirmed for Macau with Target Competition

Inaugural TCR Germany Series champion Josh Files has been announced as a late addition to the entry list for the TCR International Series season finale in Macau, where he will race a Honda Civic for Target Competition.

Files, who last month took the German title, had been working on an entry with the team for some time. He will replace the entry which was formerly assigned for Dutchman Loris Hezemans.

With Honda and Target Competition, Files is hoping for better luck than he had last year, when he had a troubled début in the championship with Campos Racing.

“I am very excited to return to Macau,” said Files. “I’m even more excited to return there in my championship-winning Honda Civic with my championship-winning team Target Competition!

“I feel this year we have a real shot to be right towards the front of the TCR International field! I genuinely can’t wait for the event to start.

“All I need to do is de-familiarise myself with the track and learn the Michelin tyres, whilst obviously tweaking the car to suit the conditions. It will be a lot of fun, and a great feeling to come up against the TCR International guys, and of course Tiago Monteiro.

“The German championship went pretty well. Therefore I hope to continue that form with the Target boys in TCR International. As long as we stick to our normal routine and work ethic, we should hopefully been in the thick of it and have two really fun races.”

Files added that he aims to keep out of the battle for the championship, which will be between Stefano Comini, James Nash and Pepe Oriola at the legendary Guia circuit.

“Obviously I don’t want to get in the way of any championship deciding battle though, so hopefully we can be in front of it.”

The Suncity Group Macau Guia Race 2.0T takes place on November 17th to 20th 2016.
