TCR Asia Series leader Andy Yan joins the International grid in Sepang

TCR Asia Series champion-elect Andy Yan Cheuk Wai will make his début in the TCR International Series in Malaysia this weekend, where the Liqui Moly Team Engstler driver could wrap up the regional title.

Yan currently has a huge 67-point lead over nearest rival Kevin Tse, and with 25 points available for a win, it would take at least two non-scores and more than two wins from Tse to close the gap.

The Hong Kong driver will be joined on the grid by his regular TCR Asia Series team-mate Filipe Clemente de Souza from Macau, with the duo joining regular international series driver Davit Kajaia in the team.

Yan has plenty of experience racing touring cars in China and Asia, and he is the current reigning China Touring Car Championship champion.

He has also previously taken a further two titles in the CTCC, starting in 2011 in the 2-litre class, before following up with a Super Production title in 2013, both times racing FRD-run Ford Focus cars.

The 32-year-old is currently in contention for the 2016 CTCC title, where he is racing a Ford Focus for the FRD-run team once again.
