James Thompson continues with Münnich in Argentina

James Thompson will continue to race for Münnich Motorsport in next weekend’s World Touring Car Championship races in Argentina, with Team Boss René Münnich faced with clashing commitments once again.

Thompson has already taken to the wheel of the team’s Chevrolet RML Cruze TC1 car in four events this season, standing in for Münnich when he has clashes in the FIA World Rallycross Championship.

Thompson’s best result to-date has been sixth in the Main Race in Russia, whilst he has also scored points in Marrakech in early May.

The team will also be faced with a double challenge next weekend, with Münnich himself competing in Trois-Rivières in Canada, whilst Thompson takes to the circuit at Autódromo Termas de Río Hondo.

“We are happy to continue with James in Argentina as René is busy in Canada,” explained Team Manager Dominik Greiner. “In Vila Real we were a bit unlucky during the Qualifying Q2, therefore our race position was not reflecting our true performance. But together with James we learned a few more tricks during both hot races which hopefully will help us during the warm weekend in Termas too.

“The first part of the 2016 FIA WTCC summer break is nearly over and we are more than enthusiastic to return to race action soon on this nice race track in Argentina.”
