Romeo Ferraris returns with Fulín and Cerruti

Romeo Ferraris will return to the grid of the TCR International Series at the Salzburgring this weekend, with Petr Fulín and Michela Cerruti driving the team’s two Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR cars.

The Italian team are returning to the championship following a two-event sabbatical, during which time they have both improved the car and built up a second chassis to be raced in Austria.

The team completed a successful test at Cervesina’s Tazio Nuvolari circuit earlier in the week, with both Czech racer Fulín and Italian Cerruti getting behind the wheel.

One of the most significant changes is to the front splitter of the car, which features a more closed design in an effort to improve the aerodynamic performance of the car.

Cerruti was cautiously optimistic ahead of her return to the series in the improved, and now red, machine.

“The team has worked a lot to improve performance, aerodynamics and handling,” said Cerruti. “The most important changes are about the front suspension and the front part of the bodywork, with a new splitter and larger cooling intakes.

“During yesterday’s test the car proved to be faster and reliable. We will see how much we have improved only when we face the competitors on the track, but I am moderately optimist.

“Running a second car was one of our goals, and I believe that having an experienced driver like Petr will help the team to make a further step ahead.”

Fulín himself is a two-time winner of the European Touring Car Cup in 2013 and 2014, and the Czech driver is currently leading the standings of the current ETCC season at the wheel of a SEAT León TCR.
