WestCoast Racing’s Gianni Morbidelli emerged as the fastest driver after second practice for the TCR International Series at Oschersleben in Germany, putting his Honda ahead of SEAT racer Sergey Afanasyev.
The session began in dry conditions, allowing Morbidelli to post a time of 1:35.433, before rainy conditions later on prevented any drivers from improving and caused them to return to the pits.
Afanasyev ended up 0.189 seconds behind the Italian in his Craft-Bamboo Racing SEAT, ahead of Leopard Racing duo Jean-Karl Vernay and Stefano Comini in third and fourth respectively.
Dušan Borković improved on his first practice pace by more than a second to go fifth and end up as the leading B3 Racing driver, ahead of Craft-Bamboo Racing’s James Nash in sixth.
The only other drivers to be within a second of the pace were Mat’o Homola in seventh, and Petr Fulín in eighth, who continued to impress in the Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR.
Czech racer Fulín’s earlier smoke problem in first practice was fixed ahead of second practice, the issue having been related to an oil leak from the gearbox which was repaired between the sessions.
Several drivers opted to try out the track on rain tyres, with Morbidelli being one of them, his time of 1 minute 51.981 second being over 15 seconds slower than in the earlier dry running.
