Ciceley Racing to offer Clio Cup charges full BTCC test

British Touring Car Championship outfit Ciceley Racing has announced it will be providing it’s three entrants in the Renault Clio Cup UK a full test in Adam Morgan’s WIX Racing Mercedes A-Class at the end of the current campaign.

The five-time BTCC race winners expanded their program to include a trio of entries for Ollie Pidgley, Dan Zelos and one-time BTCC entrant Max Coates in the well-regarded support series at the start of the year.

In doing so they strengthened the already strong relationship between the BTCC and it’s feeder category, with Team BMR and Josh Cook (MG RCIB Insurance Racing) also backing outfits.

Morgan, who acts as Team Principal of Ciceley’s Clio Cup activities, commented on the initiative,

“I’ve seen the immediate impact the top drivers coming from the UK Clio Cup have had in British Touring Cars. I’d know – I’m up against them!

“We feel each of our drivers after a season in the UK Clio Cup deserves a run in the touring car,” he continued.

“We put great pride into nurturing our young drivers and really believe this adds significant value to what we can offer those joining our team in future.”

The trio are yet to take a race victory this year, although Coates enjoyed a spectacular pole position at Donington Park and currently sits as the highest placed of the three in the championship standings, sitting 6th overall with a 56 point deficit to standings leader and ex-AmDtuning.com driver, Mike Bushell.

Pidgely and Zelos sit further behind and have amassed around a third of Coates’ total between them, the combined result of which is 6th in the Teams Championship for Ciceley Motorsport.

The date and location of the test is still to be revealed.
