Nürburgring a favourite for WTCC champ Huff

Rob Huff is looking forward to racing on the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife in the World Touring Car Championship this weekend, with the Honda ace listing the circuit as his favourite on the WTCC calendar.

Honda’s Huff, who was victorious in the main race last time out in Morocco, heads to the Nordschleife with a serious chance of victory, having only taken one top ten result last year when he was racing a LADA.

Not only is the track a favourite for Huff, but he enjoys racing at ‘the Green Hell’ so much that he is even taking part in the headline act at the circuit this weekend – the ADAC Zurich 24 Hour Race.

“The Nürburgring is my favourite circuit on the WTCC calendar,” said Huff. “After a great weekend in Morocco, I’m confident of another big haul of points both for myself and the team.

“I’m going to be extremely busy as I’ll be racing in the Nürburgring 24 Hours as well as the WTCC over the course of the weekend, so while this will be quite a challenge physically and mentally, the benefit is that this will give me significantly more track time than most of the other drivers, which I aim to use to my advantage.

“A touring car is actually a much bigger challenge than a GT3 machine at this circuit because you really have to get it on a knife-edge to extract maximum performance. I’m looking forward to putting the Civic to the test.”

Huff will take place in the 24-Hour race, which starts just over two hours after the main WTCC race, at the wheel of a Mercedes-AMG GT3 for the Black Flacon racing team, partnering Abdulazis Al Faisal, Gerwin Schuring and Indy Dontje in the car.
