Thed Björk put Polestar Cyan Racing on top of the times in second practice for the World Touring Car Championship in France, 0.348 seconds ahead of Honda’s Tiago Monteiro.
On a dry track, the Swede hit the top of the times after two thirds of the session to pip Honda’s Monteiro, who had earlier been the fastest driver for much of the middle part of the half-hour.
With few drivers improving late in the session, instead opting to work on their car set-ups in the limited amount of dry running, it left Polestar to claim a fastest time in just their third official session of the season.
LADA duo Nicky Catsburg and Gabriele Tarquini showed encouraging pace to end up third and fourth fastest, with the leading Citroën of Yvan Muller in fifth.
Reigning champion José María López was sixth fastest, ahead of the second Polestar Volvo of Fredrik Ekblom in seventh.
Honda’s Norbert Michelisz was eighth, electing like his team-mates to spend the last part of the session practicing for the first-ever MAC3 manufacturer qualifying shoot-out later in the day.
ROAL Motorsport’s Tom Coronel was the leading Chevrolet driver in ninth, ahead of former team-mate Tom Chilton who was the leading Sébastien Loeb Racing C-Elysée in tenth.
The second SLR Citroën of Mehdi Bennani also improved in the closing seconds of the session in 11th, demoting Honda’s Rob Huff to 12th.
Qualifying takes place at 13:00 BST (14:00 CEST).
