SEAT trio to carry success ballast in Estoril

Craft-Bamboo RacingCraft-Bamboo Racing duo Pepe Oriola and James Nash, along with B3 Racing’s Dušan Borković, will carry success ballast for this weekend’s TCR International Series races in Portugal.

Oriola’s SEAT León TCR will be the heaviest on the grid after the Spaniard won both of the season opening races in Bahrain, with his car carrying 30 kg of weight.

Nash will carry 20 kg due to finishing in third and second respectively, whilst Borković carries 10 kg, despite being level on points with the third Craft-Bamboo car of Sergey Afanasyev. The Serbian driver will have to carry the weight due to having scored slightly better results, including a podium finish.

It is the first time the ballast system has been applied this season, with all cars in Bahrain running success ballast free – although the weights all varied due to the Balance of Performance [BoP] system which is separate from the success ballast.

Whilst this weekend’s TCR visit to Portugal is not the first to the country, it is the first visit to Estoril, after the 2015 races took place on the Autódromo do Algarve.
