Motorbase duo confident of better results at Donington Park

Motorbase Performance duo Mat Jackson and Andrew Jordan are confident that the team are set to improve on a promising showing at Brands Hatch a fortnight ago [2nd-3rd April] as they prepare for the second round of the British Touring Car Championship at Donington Park.

Jackson has previously won around the Leicestershire venue with the Ford Focus ST model, whilst local racer Jordan will be hopeful of going one better after a best finish of second at the circuit last season whilst racing for MG.

And Jackson believes that Motorbase’s showing at the series opener was just the beginning of their development curve for the season, expecting the Kent-based outfit to be fighting at the very sharp end of the field at the weekend.

“Taking the positives away from Brands Hatch – the results didn’t really tell the whole story and we were certainly capable of a lot more and could easily have been challenging for podiums,” he argued.

“We made good progress with the car and here’s no reason at all why we shouldn’t be back fighting at the front of the pack this weekend.

“Donington is a great circuit to race at and we’ve had some great results there over the years so I’m confident that we’re in good shape heading into the weekend.”

Jackson’s team-mate Jordan is searching for his first win since Croft in 2014, with the Sutton Coldfield racer hoping to end his winless run this weekend.

“It was nice to get Brands out of the way in one respect and to get some points in the bag, but I want to step it up a gear in terms of outright pace and I think we can do that this weekend,” concurred 2013 champion Jordan.

The former winner was arguably back to his best in the championship opener having made the switch to Motorbase after a torrid year with MG Triple Eight Racing. However, he is now looking forward to getting back out at Donington and is hopeful of building on past successes.

“I’m looking forward to Donington, I’ve won there in the past and it’s my home event so I always get a lot of local support there. It’s a great old school circuit, really fast and flowing and it always makes for great racing.”

The team secured a hat-trick of double points finishes at the first event and will certainly be aiming for nothing less than a repeat when the championship arrives at Donington Park. Live commentary will be available on TouringCars.net across the weekend.
