Kevin Gleason aiming for victory in Portugal

WestCoast Racing’s Kevin Gleason says he is aiming for victory in the second meeting of the TCR International Series in Estoril this weekend.

American racer Gleason had been in contention for a podium finish in the second race of the season in Bahrain, before a controversial clash with team-mate Gianni Morbidelli took him out of the race.

Coupled with a retirement in the opening race of the year, Gleason ended up leaving the Middle East without any points in the bag.

Heading to Portugal, Gleason believes that the JAS Motorsport-built Honda Civic has the potential to challenge for victories, and he is aiming to add to the two wins he took in 2015.

“I’m really looking forward to getting started at Estoril and moving on from the disappointing weekend in Bahrain,” said Gleason. “When I was racing in the season-opener, it felt good and the car felt quick, so I have every reason to be optimistic that I can be challenging for race victories and podiums going into this weekend.

“This is a new circuit for me but it looks like a fun track, a bit old school, which is a nice change from the modern Formula 1-style track in Bahrain. From today, I will be working closely with the team to get our setup right so we are in the best position possible come raceday.

“Following Bahrain, I am more determined than ever to deliver some championship points for me and the team this weekend.”
