Honda Racing inherits Hungary MAC3 victory

The Honda Racing trio of Tiago Monteiro, Rob Huff and Norbert Mchelisz have been promoted to winners of yesterday afternoon’s MAC3 event at the Hungaroring, after both Citroën Racing and LADA Sport ROSENEFT were respectively handed thirty second penalties by the stewards.

Sébastien Loeb Racing’s Media Bennani was found to have exceeded track limits during the French manufacturer’s attempt, which happened on the team’s very first lap.

“Mehdi made a little mistake, but he drove really well,” explained Citroën’s Team Principal, Yves Matton, with the penalty denoting the record-breaking outfit to second.

“I can already announce that he will be in the lineup once again in Marrakech, in front of his home crowd!”

Hugo Valente’s error before the start of LADA’s attempt was investigated for a potential jump start, but the Frenchman also exceeded track limits at turn 11, resulting in the Russian outfit receiving the penalty.

With the teams still getting to grips with this new addition to qualifying, Honda now moves seven points clear of Citroën in the manufacturer standings, having taken their first outright MAC3 win of the year.

Race one begins at 14.15 local time (13.15 British Summer Time)
