Árón Smith pays tribute to Warren Scott after maiden BKR weekend

Aron Smith was delighted with his first weekend’s work behind the wheel of the now BKR-run Volkswagen CC, and paid thanks to Warren Scott for providing him with the opportunity to make a solid start to the 2016 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.

Smith, who claimed the team’s first podium finish in the second race of the day at Brands Hatch, collected a hat-trick of top ten finishes and left the Kent venue sitting in 5th position in the drivers standings. In doing so he broke a record, with Team BKR becoming the first outfit to score a podium finish on their first weekend in the series.

He put on record his elation with the weekends results, and acknowledged the support Team BMR and Scott have given him in continuing his career.

“I’m over the moon with the way this weekend has gone. Three weeks ago, these cars were sat in a shed not going racing,” explained Smith.

“The work that both BKR and Team BMR have put in to get us to this point has just been phenomenal, and I really can’t thank everyone enough – particularly Warren Scott. It’s no exaggeration to say that without him, we would not be here. He’s done an amazing job. Everybody at BKR is so enthusiastic, and that excitement is infectious.”

The circus next heads to Donington Park in a fortnights time, the scene of Smith’s titanic race three battle for the lead with Josh Cook last season. He will be hoping for a repeat performance from the Volkswagen CC as he looks to continue BKR’s solid start to the new campaign.
