Polestar Cyan Racing enjoyed an “extremely valuable” two days at the official World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) test at Vallelunga, where both Fredrik Ekblom and Thed Björk were in action.
The Cyan Racing duo put in competitive lap times around the Italian circuit on Wednesday, with Björk ending the day as the third fastest driver and Ekblom the seventh fastest.
“We have had two extremely valuable test days,” said Björk, who outpaced even Citroën’s Yvan Muller. “While we can’t draw any real conclusions until the first race, it is satisfying to see that we straight out of the box are quite close to the top times.”
Thursday’s testing was affected by heavy rain, making any lap time comparisons impossible and limiting the effectiveness of the test.
Ekblom ended Wednesday just over a second off the pace in his own S60, and the Swede echoed team-mate Björks sentiments about the test.
“We have waited for a long time to get on track with the competitors of the championship,” added Ekblom. “We worked through a lot of vital issues during the days, providing us with a lot of answers.
“There is still plenty of work ahead of us all season but the feeling is good ahead of the first race.”
The début of Polestar Cyan Racing’s new S60 will be at Circuit Paul Ricard in France on 3 April.
