WestCoast Racing seeks experienced drivers for TCR

WestCoast Racing is seeking experienced, high-calibre drivers to race its JAS Motorsport-built Honda Civic TCR cars in this year’s TCR International Series, as the Swedish team looks to improve on its début season in the category.

With six wins to its name in 2015, WestCoast Racing were one of the most successful TCR teams in the maiden season of the new series, taking drivers Gianni Morbidelli, Kevin Gleason and Rob Huff to race victories.

Now Team Manager James Nixon is eyeing even more experienced drivers for the 2016 campaign in order to help to take the fight to the established SEAT León teams, who scooped up 14 of the 24 wins last season.

The team hopes that a recent and intensive winter testing programme will continue to help close the gap to the SEATs in 2016.

“JAS Motorsport has racked up thousands of kilometres over the winter months in a valiant attempt to bridge the gap to SEAT, which began development of its TCR car more than a year in advance,” said Nixon. “The results we achieved on-track in 2015 speak volumes about the Honda Civic TCR’s inherent speed, but JAS Motorsport has been trying hard to pull back SEAT’s advantage in terms of reliability and testing has been hugely positive in that regard.”

As well as TCR, WestCoast Racing have recently embarked on a collaboration with Volvo in the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship, which will be co-managed by Cyan Racing.

“We are delighted to support Cyan Racing in its STCC programme,” added WestCoast Racing CEO Dick Jönsson-Wigroth. “We look forward to the 2016 season. This is a cooperation that we hope to evolve for the future.”
