Craft-Bamboo hope to use Buriram data for Thai edge

Craft-Bamboo Racing CEO Richard Coleman hopes that his team can use the extra data obtained by racing in the TCR International Series to steal a march on the outfit’s rivals in the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) races in Thailand this weekend.

Unlike the majority of WTCC teams, Craft-Bamboo Racing already have knowledge and data from the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, having competed in the TCR races one week in advance of the WTCC visit.

Now Coleman hopes that this data can help Grégoire Demoustier to have a better weekend, despite the obvious differences in the two types of touring car regulations.

“This is a new track for all drivers, not just Grég, so I think that is a real leveller,” explained Coleman. “Grég showed some good pace in Shanghai being the top Chevrolet in some sessions.

“Thailand has proved a happy hunting ground for Craft Bamboo winning the GT Asia title and taking a 1-2-3 in the TCR series last weekend, so we have some good data to help Greg.”

Demoustier has had a mixed maiden WTCC season, showing promise on occasion but notching up just two points scoring finishes so far.

“I am really looking forward to this new circuit in Thailand and am really hoping I can break into Q2,” said Demoustier, who has only cracked Q2 on one occasion so far in 2015. “I have been very close recently and with it being a new track for most of the drivers, along with myself, this may be my opportunity.”
